Better water purification solution
WATER filtration is now the premier method of water purification, removing water contaminants more efficiently than any other technique.
For over 30 years, Waterco – an international water treatment and filtration manufacturer and distributor, has been developing whole-of-house filtration systems specifically for the Malaysian market.
Water in Malaysia is predominantly soft water and can leach iron from normal steel pipes, subsequently leading to a buildup of dirt, slime and bacteria in a home’s pipes. Waterco designs and manufactures point-of-entry filtration systems, which provide effective defence against these particles in addition to treating “aesthetic” contaminants, which may cause unpleasant tastes, colours and odours.
The filters are also designed to help prolong the life of major appliances such as water heaters, washing machines and drinking water purifiers.
Waterco manufactures all the components used to create its filters. It has also taken into consideration low water pressure, which is predominant in some regions of Malaysia.
A unique feature of Waterco’s filters is its multiport valves, which have minimal head loss (restrictions), enabling an effective flow of water for backwashing – flushing and cleaning the filter, ensuring it is clean and ready for operation.
Waterco’s products are defined by their larger diameter filtration areas, which maximises filtration efficiency, increases capacity and ensures better filtration – the larger the surface area, the higher the flow rate. Adequate water flow is required to expand the filter bed so trapped contents can be flushed out.
Waterco’s Micron W Series filters are designed for effective filtration, minimal maintenance and strength and durability.
Key features of Waterco’s Micron W Series filters (W300 MK II and W250):
– Capable of filtering out particles as fine as 10 microns
– Moulded from engineered plastic
– Robust connection – Polypropylene inner tank – Weather- and corrosion-resistant
– Simple backwash that involves a turn of the multiport lever from filter position to backwash mode. The flow of water will then be reversed to flush the filter bed’s trapped contents to the drain. Once the backwash water is clear, the filter bed is clean and ready for operation again.
– Strength and durability – the filter’s innovative design and superior construction techniques provide it the strength to cope with working pressures up to 700kPa.
– Refined filament winding – Waterco’s advanced filament winding machine winds continuous stands of fibreglass onto the filter’s inner tank to strengthen the filter so it is able to withstand high and fluctuating water pressure.
“Fibreglass-wound filters are rapidly replacing steel filters in numerous water applications around the world,” says Waterco Asian Region manager, Koo Zao Cheong. “Fibreglass vessels have a seamless construction, unlike steel vessels, which have welded joints that may leak or blow out. Plus fibreglass vessels do not corrode, rust or leave any unsightly stains.”
