AIMST Bachelor in Pharmacy programme is fully accredited by MQA (MQA/FA8482) and aims to produce compassionate pharmacists with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to deliver humanistic and evidencebased quality healthcare in Malaysia.

As medicine experts, pharmacists are an integral part of the healthcare system, whose roles are evolving continuously to cater for the needs of the community they serve.

There is a wide array of career choices available to the registered pharmacists in the government sectors such as enforcement officers in National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency and researchers as well as academicians.

The fouryear programme is balanced with didactic and experiential learning, to equip students to play versatile roles in their chosen path.

The outcomebased curriculum of AIMST’s BPharm programme produces graduates with critical thinking and problemsolving ability, leadership qualities, entrepreneurship and social skill emphasising on being compassionate.

Students are exposed to problembased learning, debate and reflective journal, objective structured clinical examination, and journal appraisal to instil these desired qualities.

For the exposure in pharmaceutical industries, students are placed in suitable industries either locally or overseas for a minimum of six weeks, at the end of the third year.

Collaboration with India’s JSS University allows student industrial placements in Ooty and Mysore, India.

Students also benefit from collaboration via manufacturing and production of vaccines in Pasteur Institute, Coonoor, India.

Students undertake five weeks of clinical placement during their final year.

The passing rate of AIMST students in the recent Malaysian Qualifying Examination for Practicing Pharmacist was above 85%, reflecting the adequacy of the syllabus.

AIMST management places priority on students’ participation in various activities and extends support to the participating students.

Pharmaceutical Society of AIMST, PharmSA, an association of AIMST pharmacy students, is regarded as one of the most active societies in AIMST University.

The pharmacy students are actively involved in organising national level activities.

To create public awareness on medicines and diseases among kids, AIMST students take part in campaigns for school children around the districts.

The Faculty of Pharmacy is located together with the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences – raising the opportunity for interfaculty collaborations.

Such teamwork fosters good inter-faculty rapport, which is needed for future pharmacists who will work with other healthcare providers.

It should also be noted that the university encourages cross-faculty teaching, whereby specialists in particular fields teach the students across different faculties.

Upon completion of the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at AIMST, students may enrol in the Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) training.

AIMST is listed as one of the training site providers by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board.

Students who undergo the PRP training in AIMST University will also enrol in postgraduate programme simultaneously.
