MALAYSIAN film A House Of Happiness has been shortlisted for the Red Maple Leaf Award at the 6th Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival in Canada.
JY Teng was also nominated for Best Young Director, making him the only Malaysian nominated at the festival which takes place from July 15 to 21.
The film is slated for a China release on June 15 in conjunction with Father’s Day. Originally filmed in Cantonese, A House Of Happiness has been dubbed in Mandarin and renamed This Crazy Year for Chinese audiences.
Teng will join veteran Hong Kong actor Richard Ng and 988 deejay Chan Fong – they play a father and son dealing with an estranged relationship in A House Of Happiness – for a promo tour in China from June 14-20.
A House Of Happiness is Malaysian Chinese-language film. It is radio station 988’s first feature film, co-produced by Lomo Pictures.
It has earned RM2.18mil at the box-office after a month of screening at 88 cinemas during Chinese New Year this year.
The heartwarming family comedy co-stars Ipoh-born Hong Kong-based actress-singer Mimi Chu, Malaysian actors Steve Yap, Lim Ching Miau, Thian Siew Kim, Louisa Chong, Ong Tee Chuan, and 988 DJs Chan Fong, Cheryl Lee, Sam Mak, Hau Min, Anson Kow, Jason Poon, Cassey Soo, Cynthia Tan, Sean Lee, Piao Min and Danny One.
