Making a statement
Like the fashion brand it was born out of, Cerruti 1881’s bold and beautiful watches emphasises quality, style and craftsmanship.
IN 1881, when Antonio Cerruti founded a weaving workshop in Biella, the Italian town renowned for its quality wool and fabric production, little did he know that his cloth would adorn the movie stars of today.
By using the same core values of its heritage, Cerruti 1881 has subsequently gone on to capture another fan base. The fashion brand is currently also known for watches that combine bold design with technical innovation.
The latest Odissea Master for example, embraces cutting edge innovation. With a striking square case bolted down by silver screws, nothing about this watch is at all ordinary.
“It’s an iconic or rather, signature piece of Cerruti,” noted regional sales and marketing director of Fortune Concept Ltd, Rajiv Mehra, at the recent launch in Kuala Lumpur.
“I see this as one of our strong contenders in the industry. It’s very unique and indeed very well accepted by timepiece lovers. Not many watches or brands offer a square shape design.”
Lines on the Odissea Master ‘s bezel and the indices are all angled inward toward a vanishing point at the centre of the watch, giving it a three-dimensional infinity box effect.
While square chronograph windows sit on a diamond pattern, white hands with a cutout boldly rotate around the surface. Small red aspects give a hint of colour, most noticeably on the triangular minute hand and etched around the crown.
The richness of layers, patterns and amazingly crafted details are further balanced with a deep black rubber strap, resulting in a sleek timepiece that walks the line, but never goes over the top.
According to Rajiv, people wear timepieces to not tell the time anymore. They strap on a watch as a fashion statement instead, and as such, standout designs become really popular.
“Watches are now conversation starters, and designs or brands with a story behind them do well. Consumers are also constantly looking for something they can identify with,” he stated.
“The Cerruti range has a lot of different looks and feels. We have contemporary styling, classic styling and sporty styling. And these are based on the philosophy of the fashion brand itself.”
In Malaysia, the brand’s full range of watches are available at all Cerruti 1881 and Solar Time & Time Couture timepiece boutiques, as well as other fine watch retailers.
