Grantt Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 launched

-

UMW Grantt International has launched a new lubricant Stellar 8000 SAE 0W-20 API SN Plus - touted as the first such in the country to protect car engines from low speed pre-ignition (LSPI).

“LSPI is premature internal combustion when the air-fuel mixture ignites before the spark plug fires, while the engine is still under high load at low revs; for example, when the car is in idle mode or is being driven slowly and then is rapidly accelerated - it creates excessive pressure that can damage internal engine components,” UMW Corp president of manufacturing and engineering division Megat Shahrul Azmir Nordin said at the launch of the fully synthetic lubricant on Tuesday.

The new engine oil, formulated with Knock Guard technology, is aimed at cars with turbocharged petrol direct injection engines, and promises more than 80% better engine protection against wear and power loss.

Its unique antioxidant additives help to control oil thickening, thus offering protection during cold engine start at low temperatures.

The low viscosity oil also promises fuel savings of up to 4%.

The recommended retail price for a 4-litre pack is RM199.
