MORE than 3,000 birds from 200 species live right in the city at the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.
Located in the tranquil and picturesque Perdana Botanical Gardens, the park opened its doors in 1991. Since then, it has remained an iconic tourist attraction, winning over the hearts of both local and international travellers alike.

What to do
Check out the amphitheatre and large water feature. This is where the bird shows take place between 12.30pm and 3.30pm daily.
You can also get close to the feathered friends by feeding them.
Hornbill Park houses the largest species of the Rhinoceros Hornbill in the world. However, the hornbill is not the only attraction. A true representation of the Malaysian tropical rainforest shines through in this part of the park. It is the best place to snap some photos to up your social media game.
The two free-flight zones give allowances for close observation of how different bird species live together. Just be sure to always be gentle and not frighten the birds. You certainly don’t want them to attack you!
Do not forget to visit the Lake Garden, too. Here, you can enjoy a leisurely boat cruise or a picnic, with magnificent views of the bird park.

Getting there
Getting to KL Bird Park should not be a difficult task at all as it is not far from the city centre. If you opt for public transport, take the KTM commuter train and stop at the WPM Old Railway Kuala Lumpur Station; the park is only five minutes away.
Another alternative would be the bus. You could take the Rapid KL Bus B115 from the Kota Raya shopping plaza and disembark at jalan Parlimen. If you are taking a taxi or Grab, just stop at the main entrance. Of course, you could drive there, too, but parking space is limited.
