Important to pay attention to the little details

Be certain that you are also well-protected by a suitable insurance policy in case you get ill or involved in an unfortunate accident while abroad.

Compile a list of hospitals that your insurance covers and keep it close to you.

Closer to ideal

During your working years, you may need to live in a certain location for the simple reason that it is close to your workplace.

As a retiree who is no longer bound by the constraints of a job, would you contemplate relocating your home?

If yes, where would you move to and why? Could it be that you wish to be closer to family or relatives? Or are you seeking to establish yourself in a more idyllic – or exciting – locality?

A big move like this will require you to first sit down and deliberate the following.

Transport – Does the new area have a dependable and wellconnected public transport system? As we age, we may encounter issues with our physical health – causing us to rely more on the assistance of vehicles rather than our own two legs.

If public transport is not sufficient, you may have to invest in a car, that is, if you are fit to drive. Safety – Do your research on the place you wish to call home. Is it safe? Are you able to walk around the neighbourhood by yourself without the fear of someone pulling a knife on you?

Surf the Internet for some wisdom and ask the locals for their views on the topic.

Funds – Being a retiree does not mean living without concern for financial health. Relocating could present a host of new concerns that were not previously thought of.

The potentiality of rising living costs – especially when living in cities – has to be examined before a move.

Moreover, if you currently own a home, you will have to think of what will happen to it. Would you rent or sell your property? Which would give you greater financial freedom?

It starts with you

Sometimes, all we want to do is share happiness with others. We can do that by lending a helping hand through the wondrous activity of volunteering.

You may believe that engaging in such virtuous pursuits does not cost anything, but that may be idealism clouding up reality once more.

Here are some points you should deliberate before offering your time and effort for free.

Ability – Are you truly able to provide something of value? Consider if the cause you are working for is something you truly care about.

On top of that, think about how you can best contribute by assessing your own unique skills and experience.

Make your time worthwhile for everyone and do not leave feeling emptier than before.

Health – Think about your physical condition. If you have health concerns, make sure the activity that you are engaging in does not worsen your problem.

You would not want the people you are helping to have to save you instead.

Money – Volunteering can cost you money as you may have to cover your own living, transport and accommodation expenses.

Never forget that money does make the world go round.

After taking the necessary time to go over your retirement plans, draw a long breath and relax.

The point here is not to consume you with fear. Rather, it is to direct you towards a clear and worry-free path – heading to the golden years of your dreams.
