Solid head start to a bright future

-

SINCE its inception in 1969, Taylor’s College has provided a platform for countless Malaysian students to reach their full potential. As a pioneer in preuniversity studies in Malaysia, Taylor’s College takes its responsibility in giving students the best head start to their future very seriously.

Students who completed their education in the first half of 2018 have moved on to prestigious universities such as University of Oxford in the UK, Cornell University in the US, University of Melbourne in Australia as well as the National University of Singapore and the University Hong Kong among others.

Lee Su Mae, who just completed her SACE International (previously South Australian Matriculation) studies at Taylor’s College, is one of the students who was accepted into a top UK university.

Lee, who will be pursuing her studies in economics at the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE) next month, shares that she knew she could get into LSE with her SACE International results thanks to the due diligence that she observed through the course of her preuniversity studies.

“Being the top university for economics in the UK, LSE was undoubtedly my first choice and I made it my personal obligation to do whatever it took to gain entry into LSE.

“I was concerned about the application as I had an unconventional pathway, coming from the SACE International programme. However, with the support of the academics at Taylor’s College and a strict approach to time management, I was able to excel at my studies and finished my time at Taylor’s with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 98.90,” says Lee.

She shares that she enrolled in Taylor’s College because it has an exceptional reputation for producing students who achieve excellent ATAR scores upon completion of the programme.

“I appreciated the dedication and commitment of the academics as they were genuinely invested in our education and cared about our well-being.

They gave me the skills and knowledge that I need for university life,” she says.

For Amir Irfan Mohamad Hishammudin, an added advantage to studying at Taylor’s College is the assistance provided by its University Placement Services (UPS) Centre.

Amir, who was enrolled in the A-Levels programme, found the process of applying for universities a lot smoother thanks to the experienced UPS personnel.

“They helped translate all required documents during application season and were always there to point out mistakes in my application.

“They made this tough and emotional journey less lonely,” says Amir, who secured a place at a

US Ivy League institution – Brown University.

He says that even though he was enrolled in a UK-based preuniversity programme, he was able to gain acceptance into a university in the US because of his active involvement in extracurricular endeavours.

“Universities in the US are looking for people who are just as involved in extracurricular activities as they are in their studies.

“The tips on time management that I picked up while at Taylor’s College allowed me to be active both inside and outside the classroom. It is precisely for that balanced approach that I was able to get into Brown.

“I believe that my time at Taylor’s will stand me in good stead in future as it has prepared me well for university life.

“Although I deemed the course to be academically challenging initially, I discovered that the A-Levels syllabus made it easier for me to study for my SAT subjects,” says Amir, who will be flying to the US next month.

Taylor’s College offers the Cambridge A-Levels and SACE International programmes at Taylor’s Lakeside Campus.

Taylor’s College has a track record that is second to none in preparing graduates for admission into the finest universities around the world.
