MALAYSIANS can now experience Kia’s latest offering in the sports sedan class with the impressive Kia Stinger GT.

Naza Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Kia vehicles in Malaysia, has introduced two variants – the 3.3-litre V6 GT and the 2.0-litre GT-Line. Both variants stand true to Kia’s motto “The Power to Surprise”, delivering a true blend of nimble performance, unyielding style and comfort.

The Kia

Stinger’s handsome exterior enabled it to win the EyesOn Design Award for Production Car Design Excellence at the North American International Auto Show last year.

To top off the premium exterior, Kia’s signature “tiger-nose” grille sits proudly at the front between complex LED headlamps – accentuated by honeycombshaped, dark-chromed, hotstamped patterns fixed onto a black base.

Peer inside the elegant beast to find a spacious, sleek and sophisticated cabin with aircraftstyled design and quality finish, such as deeply contoured seats with ultra-soft Nappa leather for the 3.3L V6 GT and natural leather for the 2.0L GT-Line.

The high dashboard holds the best of in-car technology: the infotainment system with an eight-inch floating navigation touchscreen integrated with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Climate and ventilation controls lie beneath.

Looking past the sporty “D-cut” type steering wheel, a crystal-clear seven-inch TFT LCD relays useful performance data such as cornering G-forces, lap times and engine oil temperature (available for the 3.3L GT variant only).

A performance machine

The 2.0L twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II T-GDi engine produces 251hp at 6,200rpm and a maximum 353Nm of torque from 1,400rpm to 4,000rpm, propelling the Stinger from 0kph to 100kph in just six seconds.

The larger 3.3L twin-turbo V6 Lambda T-GDi engine, on the other hand, powers the car to 100kph in 4.9 seconds with the help of 365hp at 6,000rpm and 510Nm of torque from 1,300rpm to 4,500rpm.

A specially designed secondgeneration eight-speed rear-wheel drive automatic transmission is featured in the Kia Stinger.

Its innovative Shift-By-Wire transmission control bestows the driver with the option to interchange between transmission modes through electronic controls – giving way to more intuitive and smarter driving.

The sophisticated Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system also assists drivers in manoeuvring through harsh weather by monitoring driver input and road conditions to automatically distribute power in real time based on the driving situation.

The 2.0L GT-Line rides on 225/45R-18 performance all-season tyres while the 3.3L V6 GT is equipped with Continental ContiSportContact 5 tyres that have been specifically engineered and tuned for the Stinger.

Since its international launch, the Kia Stinger has secured numerous global accolades such as Best of the Year and Best Sports Sedan in MotorWeek’s 2018 Drivers’ Choice Awards, Roadshow By CNET Shift Award For 2018 Vehicle Of The Year, Wards 10 Best Interiors for 2018, AutoGuide.com 2018 Car Of The Year, and Autotrader’s 10 Best Car Interiors Under $50,000 for 2018.

The Kia Stinger comes in four exquisite exterior colours – HiChroma Red, Deep Chroma Blue, Panthera Metal and Aurora Black. Interior-wise, the 3.3L V6 GT receives a striking red colour package while the 2.0L GT-Line comes in flush black.

The 3.3-litre V6 GT variant goes for RM309,888 on the road without insurance while the 2.0-litre GT-Line variant is priced at RM239,888 on the road without insurance.
