The wonders of Olinda Spring
An Australian mineral-laden skincare infused with the living waters of Olinda Spring has arrived to give you brighter, healthier skin.
ON a visit to a garden at Olinda Spring near Mt Dandenong in Melbourne, Christina Chen found that most of the botanical flowers there, especially the Lily Flower, have a long life and the flowers were fresh and blooming.
The gardener told her that the flowers were sustained only by using 100% Olinda Spring water and no other synthetic fertilisers.
The spring water was full of natural minerals and this contributed to the longevity of the Lily Flower.
This piqued her interest in doing more research on the natural botanical ingredients growing at Olinda Spring.
Organique Skincare by Olinda Spring, a skincare range, is the result of Chen’s research.
Born in Beijing, Chen – who has an accounting and finance background – is a China citizen who also holds an Australian Permanent Residency. She has lived in Melbourne and has been travelling between Australia, China, Hong Kong and is currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for Organique’s expansion.
A mother of a nine-month-old son and a three-year-old daughter, Chen, 38, heads product development for Organique and works closely with her Melbourne lab to improve on her brand of skincare by exploring the wonders of Australia’s natural ingredients.
Chen was in Kuala Lumpur recently for the launch of Organique Skincare by Olinda Spring and she says, “The first product we created was Rehydrate Day Cream because we wanted to start the production using Macadamia Nut and Kakadu Palm as the key ingredients, which is widely found in Australia, before trying with other more extinctive botanical ingredients.”
Containing at least 95% of Australia’s natural resources, Organique Skincare by Olinda Spring’s range include the AgeReverse, Rehydrate and now their latest Whitening, and is available at KL Gateway Mall and the brand’s retail website.
“Olinda Spring water is a living water from Mt Dandenong and the water flows through an ancient volcanic aquifer that produces the purest water with natural minerals. It is unique and we are the only brand using Olinda Spring water in skincare as it is trademarked on our brand name,” Chen says.
“We recognised that organic natural based skincare is not widely used in Malaysia so we believe that this is the right time for us to penetrate into the Malaysian market and by introducing an affordable price point,” she adds.
Chen points out that her brand – that is in compliance with the Guidelines on Goods Manufacturing Practices and Australian Certified Organic – is suitable for all skin types and especially for sensitive skin.
“I was using my own products during my pregnancy last year and had no irritation. During my earlier pregnancy in 2015 my sensitive skin would get red when using other skincare brands that contain chemicals.”
Chen explains that other organic brands have a shelf life of between three to six months while Organique by Olinda Spring has a shelf life of 12 months due to a unique formulation.
“The general texture of organic brands is coarse, sticky and has an unpleasant smell, and only moisturises the skin’s surface without deep penetration in the deeper skin layers. Organique products, on the other hand, are easily absorbed, shows results and are multi-functional with deep hydration, age-reversing and skin cells restoration and regenerative aspects,” Chen says.
