If you live in the Klang Valley, you would have noticed a trio of new luxury hotel openings in the past few months.

the Banyan tree Kuala Lumpur, Four Seasons Place and the W Kuala Lumpur all recently opened their doors for business in the city. Social media influencers have since been busy creating posts that showcase the good life, posing on the rooftops and high floors of said hotels, with iconic buildings like the Petronas twin towers and the KL tower as the backdrop.

Although these luxury hotels do tend to cater to more affluent holidaymakers and business travellers, each property does feature a little something for everyone.

Banyan Tree

As a Singapore brand, Banyan tree is all about understated luxury and high-quality services. the hotel occupies the top seven floors of the pre-existing Banyan tree Signatures Pavilion KL building, but only opened in mid-June. it has 55 rooms and suites, many of which feature views of either the twin towers or KL tower.

the rooms are fitted with luxurious funishings and chromotherapy showers, while Banyan tree’s signature aromatherapy essentials fill the air. Meanwhile, a private relaxation pool is available in the suites.

Dining options include the wine lounge Altitude, a surf-and-turf restaurant called horizon on the 58th floor, and Vertigo, a rooftop bar just one floor up. it is currently the highest hotel rooptop bar in KL.

Of course, the best part of any Banyan tree property in the world is its spa facilities. As one of the pioneers of oriental spas in Asia, Banyan tree KL offers luxury spa services like specialised massage treatments and refreshing scrubs by professionally-trained therapists. Signature spa treatments include Master therapist Experience and Malaysian Bliss.

there’s also a fully-equipped meeting room or two at the hotel, in case you feel like, you know, working.

Four Seasons

this Canadian brand of international hotels is synonymous with a high-end lifestyle. the 65-storey Four Seasons Place comprises a retail space (called Shoppes), the hotel, serviced apartments and private residences.

Opened on July 1, the Four Seasons hotel itself has 209 rooms, all of which come with views of either the twin towers or KLCC Park.

there are six dining options at the hotel, plus a few more at Shoppes. Some of them include CurAtE, Yun house, Bar trigona and Decadent. Four Seasons also has a spa and wellness facility that offers massages, body treatments and hair treatments.

W Kuala Lumpur

the W Kuala Lumpur is the newest of the trio. Part of Marriott international group of hotels, the W KL comes with 150 rooms and suites, all beautifully decorated with quirky yet fun arty designs.

there are bamboo-like chandeliers, light installations simulating flowing rivers and waterfalls and interesting ceiling art. the hotel seems to have incorporated Malaysia – in particular, KL – into its designs and the result is simply wonderful.

the W KL has 18 suites, including two WOW suites and one Extreme WOW Suite that has a living space of more than 520sq m! Each room is furnished with signature W beds and pillows (psst – check out the pillow menu), and has luxurious bath amenities.

the hotel has six restaurants and bars namely Flock, Yen, Saint Pierre, Wicked, Wet and Woobar. it also boasts two huge function spaces for corporate events as well as private affairs like weddings and birthdays.

Away is the hotel’s spa outlet which offers massages, facials and mani-pedi sessions.
