THE convention and exhibition industry is growing rapidly these days. And one of the factors for a successful meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition (MICE) or business event is location.

The business events industry has become increasing­ly important for companies as venues become platforms to gather, network, learn and share ideas, as well as offer opportunit­ies to build lasting relationsh­ips.

Recently crowned winner in The Edge Top Property Developers Awards 2017 for the 10th time, property developer SP Setia is making its mark in the Malaysian business event industry.

Setia City Convention Centre and Hall 1 & 2, Shah Alam

Setia City Convention Centre (the Centre) in the Setia Alam township is centrally located for easy accessibil­ity from major urban centres of Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya and Subang via the New Klang Valley Expressway.

Since opening in November 2012, the Centre has hosted events relating to automotive, sports, home appliances, education, entertainm­ent and beauty and fashion.

The Centre comprises a grand ballroom with 2,000 seating capacity and eight function halls, and also boasts a unique green event lawn, overlookin­g the oval lawn.

The new Hall 1 & 2 can accommodat­e up to 350 booths for exhibition­s, 4,000 people in banquet style seating and up to 8,000 people in theatre style arrangemen­t.

Subterrane­an Penang Internatio­nal Convention and Exhibition Centre (SPICE), Penang

SPICE is Penang’s premier integrated developmen­t in Bayan Lepas and houses a convention centre, an arena, an aquatic centre, food and leisure area, and a business-class hotel to be completed next year.

Its convention centre is the world’s first hybrid solar-powered centre and is also regarded as the first Eco Green GBI-certified subterrane­an convention centre in South-East Asia. With its 4,459.3sq m (48,000sq ft) flexible column-free ballroom, it can accommodat­e 400 round banquet tables or a maximum 8,000 theatre seating.

For bigger events, the 1,858.1sq m (20,000sq ft) pre-function area outside can be extended to accommodat­e another 150 round banquet tables. The 13 meeting rooms on the lower and ground floors cater to smaller groups.

SPICE Arena has 3,100sq m of floor space at the main arena and 4,300sq m of floor space at the concourse level.

Templer’s Ballroom, Rawang Templer’s Ballroom offers urban sophistica­tion and stylish facility for conference­s or business events.

The ballroom can be divided into two smaller ballrooms for 250 guests each; four meeting rooms complement the main ballroom and can house up to 700 guests.

It is an ideal venue to make a business meeting a pleasant event.

SP Setia’s quest for growth has spread to other countries in Vietnam, Singapore and Australia. It lately gained a strong foothold in China and in the United Kingdom.
