Model township with strong identity

-

CRAFTED out of a barren quarry and transformed into one of Kuala Lumpur’s greenest, safest and most liveable communities, Desa ParkCity (DPC) is a township above the rest.

After 18 long years, the sprawling 473-acre development by ParkCity has now matured into a dynamic township where the emphasis is very much on community and family.

The developer had to navigate many challenges before realising its aspiration of a well-planned, safe and sought-after township.

“We understand that it takes a lot of patience, commitment and passion to build a township.

“We are proud we made this committment,” said ParkCity Group Executive Chairman Datuk Seri Yaw Chee Siew.

DPC integrates all the lifestyle aspects required — housing, health care, education, commerce, conveniences and communal spaces — to foster valuable family and community ties.

Its commercial offices and retail shops at The Waterfront and Plaza Arkadia are popular gathering places for not only for the DPC community but also the surrounding neighbourhoods, fulfilling ParkCity’s philosophy of Connectivity and Convenience.

ParkCity Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Joseph Lau said DPC is renowned as one of Kuala Lumpur’s most liveable master-planned communities.

“We take pride in ensuring that the township is well-managed with continuous maintenance of its infrastructure, amenities and security for we believe good care will result in better price appreciation for the properties here.

“Despite the ups and downs in the property market, properties in DPC have been able to hold their value,” he enthused.

And for creating a holistic and self-sustainable environment for people, the developer was recognised with the prestigious FIABCI Malaysia Property Award 2018 under the Master Plan category.

Lau said the recognition would enhance the credibility of the development and the company’s brand.

This latest accolade follows a string of other achievements including FIABCI’s national and international Property Awards, The Edge Malaysia Property Development Excellence Award, and international property awards.

Masterfully planned

DPC’s success story started in 1999 when it was a barren site in KL’s north-western district, rendered inhospitable by prolonged intensive quarry mining.

The developer transformed the land with intensive rehabilitation and imaginative landscaping solutions. Place-making was a key contributor in creating an immersive and inviting environment.

DPC now features myriad treelined pedestrian pathways, jogging trails, cycling lanes, thematic parks and gathering places to encourage residents to spend more time outdoors.

“This success lies in our company’s philosophy to stay guided by our five brand pillars of Family, Neighbourhood, Community, Connectivity and Convenience,” remarked Lau.

Aside from building architecture and the provision of a social heart shaped by public facilities and social activities, ParkCity is committed to creating spaces that accord exceptional living experiences.

The master-planned development is made up of housing, health care (ParkCity Medical Centre), education (The International School @ ParkCity, The Early Years Centre, SJK (C) Kepong 3, SMK Desa Mahkota), neighbourhood amenities (The ParkCity Club, The SportsCentre, The Central Park, The West Park, The East Park) plus commerce and conveniences (The Waterfront, Plaza Arkadia).

“We want people to be united by a sense of identity, connection and pride,” said Lau.

DPC is admired for its walkability, innovative homes, safe neighbourhoods, attractive communal spaces and lush greenery.

Today, walkers and joggers use the beautifully manicured walkways that meander throughout the neighbourhoods.

People are enjoying the 6-acre Central Lake, partaking in tai chi and morning strolls.

The fully operational ParkCity Medical Centre and The International School @ ParkCity are further initiatives by the developer to provide residents with high quality services at their doorsteps.

With a combination of security-conscious designs and deployment of well-trained auxiliary police and guards, DPC is now one of the safest townships in Kuala Lumpur.

ParkCity is happy to see other townships emulating DPC as a model for a successful and desirable township while City Hall officers make regular visits to observe and study its success.

Foreign delegates have also paid educational visits to the development which is deemed a role model for successful master-planned communities.

Exquisite homes

This highly desirable address consists a total 30 phases of residential and commercial units as well as a mixed-use town center. To date, 3,390 homes have been completed with 2,141 units under construction.

DPC invites residents to live and indulge within a safe, sustainable and holistic haven featuring 19 outstanding residential enclaves, including specially crafted strata -titled terrace homes in gated and guarded communities.

These are Adiva (parkhomes, courtyard terraces and apartments), Adora (courtyard terraces and apartments), Amelia (garden homes), Casaman (signature parkhomes), Davinia (bungalow lots) and Nadia (parkhomes and condos).

Then there are One Central Park (parkfront condos), The Ridgewood (semi-detached and bungalow lots), Safa (terrace homes), Sofiya (condos), South Brooks (condos) and Southlake (terrace homes).

The Breezeway feature parkhomes and garden condos while The Mansions comprises regal parkhomes,

Desirable condos are featured in The Northshore Gardens as well as The Westside I, II and III while Zenia offers parkhomes and garden condos.

Three of the neighbourhoods have been honoured for their design excellence by FIABCI Prix d’Excellence — The Mansions (2016 World Gold Winner), Adiva (2010 World Gold Winner) and Casaman (2015 World Silver Winner).

The diverse offerings cater to different lifestyles and visions. Each neighbourhood has its own charm, character and hidden surprises.

However despite the variegated characteristics, Lau said all DPC homes come with a high level of privacy and comfort.

“Our residents have been very happy to embrace the various house types we built, ranging from stratified terraced homes to bungalows and condominiums.

“The homes have been priced to suit buyers from different income groups.

“The South Brooks condos, for instance, is very competitively priced from RM535,000 for a two-bedroom unit,” he emphasised.

Compelling destination

Moving forward, this modern mixed-use 54.36-acre development is a compelling regional destination made up of the newly completed commercial hub of Plaza Arkadia.

What will make ParkCity TownCenter stand out is its openair, pedestrian-friendly and safe environment set around a lake.

Plaza Arkadia is positioned as a distinct and stylish lifestyle destination with its ground floor arcade-fronted HighStreet and first floor Courtyard shops as well as offices and SOHOs.

The HighStreet shops have uninterrupted frontages of extraordinary widths and double-volume spaces that exceed the norm. Adorned with large street-facing window openings, the first floor shops are approached by open-air courtyards and are the first-of-their kind.

Office and SOHO occupiers can enjoy the everyday convenience of having ‘in-house’ shops, restaurants, coffee bars, banks, clinics, a supermarket and a host of specialist shops.

In line with ParkCity’s DNA of community engagement, the management will stage exciting events to draw in the crowd.

“Community engagement plays an important role in sustaining a successful township. Hence, DPC has become an established venue for New Year countdowns, charity runs and celebrations,” said Lau.

In short, DPC is a place where people live, work, play and grow.

Communities with heart and soul

Established in 1990, ParkCity stays true to its brand’s vision of creating spaces centred on life and consistently aims to create a sense of place focussed on family, neighbourhood, community, connectivity and convenience.

ParkCity always ensures that all its developments offer added value to their communities by their quality and sustainability.

“We are not just about selling properties but about infusing heart and soul into communities,” said Lau, adding that their flagship DPC has paved the way for two other master-planned developments — Marina ParkCity in Sarawak and ParkCity Hanoi in Vietnam.
