Sexy in the city

“WHAT moves you?” That is the tagline that you’ll see when you’re on the rooftop of this hotel in the Klang Valley.

Located in the busy Changkat Bukit Bintang area in Kuala Lumpur, the 13-storey Mov Hotel was launched in May last year.

If there was ever an environment that inspires creativity, this hotel, which has a decidedly European feel to it, would be it.

The spacious lobby sports a trendy urban design, with a touch of quirkiness. You’ll be greeted by a huge white panther sculpture when you step into the lobby.

And, next to the lounge area is an indoor slide that leads all the way down to the restaurant, Wurst. Don’t worry, there’s also a lift for guests.

Wurst, an independent restaurant headed by Chef Logan, is known for its eight types of gluten-free sausages and has an interesting menu of Asian and Western cuisines. The restaurant is pork-free, but they do serve alcohol.

There are 138 Urban (standard) rooms and nine Lofts (premium) at the hotel, plus a gym, a rooftop pool, a hammock lounge and a meeting/ conference room.

I stayed in the Infinity Loft, which comes with a metal four-poster bed. I thought that the bed was really comfortable, and I love its minimalistic design with geometric shapes overhead.

The room itself looks “adult”, sporting rectangular and circular shapes, with a high-ceiling, an open wardrobe concept, floor-length windows and mirrors ... quite a few of them, in fact.

There is a floor-length mirror next to the bed, and another unusual shaped one at the other end of the room. There is also a mirror by the washbasin, sandwiched between the toilet and shower rooms.

In the living area lies a circular sofa that is large enough to be a second bed. There is also a TV cabinet, a place to hang your clothes, and a coffee-and-tea corner with a hidden refrigerator.

The lofts come in four designs; the family loft is a duplex (two levels). There is also a couple’s loft which features a romantic bathtub and soft, sexy lighting.

The Urban rooms are slightly smaller, but they are mostly styled in the same way as the lofts. The curved bathrooms come with mood lighting called “rainbow lights”.

All the rooms are individually equipped with high-speed dedicated Hotspot Wi-Fi so that you don’t have to share with other guests.

Business guests can conduct meetings at the Think Tank room, but be forewarned, this is not your typical boardroom-style meeting room. It offers innovative seating from gym balls, swings, to designer chairs.

The hotel is surrounded by some of KL’s most popular tourists spots. It is a five-minute walk from the Bukit Bintang MRT Station so it’s very convenient for guests.
