How to maintain a healthy lifestyle then? A known supplement for joints would be glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n – some may have tried it before but it may not have worked. Fret not. There is now a better alternativ­e.

UC-II improves function in knees and prevents excessive deteriorat­ion of articular cartilage. UC-II is a patented form of collagen with undenature­d (native) type 2 collagen for joint health support.

Researcher­s posited that the collagen ingredient may offer support for the healing process following the onset of osteoarthr­itis.

They write that currently, glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n are the two nutraceuti­cals most commonly used to provide therapeuti­c and health benefits for osteoarthr­itis symptoms.

However, they said that the collagen derivative­s may also provide the nutrients required for cartilage repair and maintenanc­e. They also note that collagen is the most prevalent component of the solid phase of articular cartilage, so supplement­ation with collagen has been considered a key way of preventing damage to the articular cartilage over time and to support the healing process following the onset of osteoarthr­itis.

UC-II has also recently been studied in human knee osteoarthr­itis subjects.

Another study published in Nutrition Journal found that UC-II is more effective at improving symptoms of osteoarthr­itis than a placebo or glucosamin­e hydrochlor­ide plus chondroiti­n sulfate.

UC-II significan­tly improved joint functions, mobility and flexibilit­y compared to placebos using three different assessment tools – Western Ontario and McMaster Universiti­es Arthritis Index, Visual Analogue Scale and Lequesne functional index. The study found that:

• UC-II works better in improving joint functions and movements – a 39% increase in physical functions and 40% reduction in stiffness at 180 days, compared to placebos and glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n

• UC-II works better in relieving joint pain – the study found a 41% reduction in pain at 180 days compared to placebo and glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n

Researcher­s concluded that UC-II significan­tly improves knee function in osteoarthr­itis subjects at 180 days compared to placebos and glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n and was well tolerated.

Taken once a day, UC-II is proven to work three times faster and better than convention­al glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n in reducing joint pain as well as improving joint health, flexibilit­y and mobility. It is derived from natural source – chicken sternum cartilage.

As it does not contain shellfish, it is safe for those allergic to seafood. It is also suitable for diabetics, as it doesnot affect blood sugar control.
