RHB’s involvement in cycling began in 2015 as part of its effort to promote a healthy lifestyle with the RHB Shimano Lekas Highway Ride in 2015, offering cyclists a unique riding experience on a closed highway at night.
With more than 4,500 cyclists participating annually, RHB Shimano Lekas Highway Ride has become the biggest night ride on a highway.
RHB Langkawi Ride is the first cycling event outside of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor organised by RHB, promising cycling enthusiasts another intriguing experience – the opportunity to explore an island destination on two wheels.
The event in Langkawi has attracted both local and international cyclists from Australia, United Kingdom, United States, Brunei, Japan, Italy and South Africa, among others.
Surrounded by turquoise sea, Langkawi, an archipelago of 99 islands presents the perfect venue for a cycling event with its mesmerising view of picturesque padi fields and jungle-clad hills.
Promising nature lovers a unique experience, the island features an attractive shoreline of powder-fine sand and swaying palm trees, giving cyclists an unforgettable tour.
Cycling enthusiasts can look forward to navigating Langkawi’s legendary heritage sites, flat open vistas, challenging gradients and fast track descents.
The ride is a test of man and machine across Langkawi’s diverse tracks, spanning scenic mountain ranges and lush greenery as well as the majestic seafront of the Straits of Melaka.
Set to take off on April 13 at 7am, cyclists of various ages and levels have the opportunity to be part of this cycling event.
Several categories are available, namely the 100km Eagle Ride, 75km Heritage Ride and the 25km Adventure Ride, comprising the Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran Open and Corporate Team (only for the 100km ride).
