Signed, sealed, delivered
THE word “business” encompasses a wide range of concepts and activities. Logistics and supply chain management is one aspect of business that has not received much public attention. These management skills are crucial, especially for major businesses that require the delivery of goods.
The items seen on the shelves of our favourite stores are almost always available. Ever wondered how the items get there? It is a process where the goods move from the raw materials supplier to the manufacturer, distributor, wholesaler, retailer and finally to consumers. With the increase of businesses that are becoming more reliant on logistics and supply chain management, it is certainly a good time to be looking into this field.
At Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), the Faculty of Business, Information & Human Sciences offers the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. This programme will give you insight and understanding on the flow of goods from the starting point to the end.
You will learn about the transport of goods and services through all types of transportation, including air and land transport. Working in this field, you may be involved in
manufacturing, retail, freight shipping, airlines and distribution.
This programme prepares you to work in the challenging and dynamic field of logistics, which demands fast, efficient, accurate and strategic business decisions. In making sure goods are handled well and reach their locations at scheduled times, you may be required to visit warehouses, manufacturing plants or distribution centres to oversee the process to its completion.
In addition, this programme provides you with the opportunity to learn the various aspects of logistics operation management, including implementation and management of systems, deployment of personnel, physical facilities, raw materials, in-process inventories, finished goods, and related information or services.
You will also have the opportunity to learn directly from renowned logistics companies through frequent academic visits, seminars and industrial training.
Career opportunities are wide as both the public and private sectors will need graduates in this field.
