Bright future with an IT degree
SEGI University has always been on the ball when it comes to incorporating the latest technology and innovation developments into its study programmes to suit industry needs, and its School of Information Technology (SOIT) has always produced industry-relevant graduates.
In view of the current digital transformation, SOIT continues to update programmes offered to its Information Technology (IT) students and collaborate with industry leaders to ensure that its graduates own their future in the IT field.
SEGi University’s IT programmes provide a world-class learning experience with its double degree programme with the University of Central Lancashire, UK (UCLan).
SOIT also focuses on an industry-driven curriculum and student-centred environment, providing students with industry exposure and opportunities to work with industry partners on assignments and projects, and leading them towards specialisations in business system design, software engineering and computer networking.
Ensuring that SEGi University IT graduates are competitive and in demand, students are also provided soft skills enrichment programmes through talks, conferences and workshops. SOIT also offers students the chance to gain accreditation through professional bodies such as the Oracle Workforce Development Programme and the Certified Ethical Hacker certification.
SOIT programmes are delivered using applied methodologies and state-of-the-art IT facilities such as access to the Microsoft IT Academy Programme.
For Unagollage Binod Charukshi Wijesinghe, a Bachelor of IT (Hons) in Software Engineering 2018 graduate and the Chancellor’s Award winner at SEGi University’s 19th graduation ceremony, undertaking a degree in software engineering at SEGi university was the best and most important decision she has ever made.
As an international student from Sri Lanka, moving to Malaysia was an adventure for her and obtaining her IT degree at SEGi University gave her a strong foundation in computer science, equipping her with the skills to learn emerging technologies.
“The road to becoming a successful software engineer is not easy, but the wonderful head of school and lecturers will always stand by to assist you on your journey.
“SEGi’s school of IT has some of the most helpful faculty members I have ever met. They want you to ask questions and are more than willing to help you succeed.
“As each day passes, I feel that I am one step closer to being the successful software engineer that SEGi’s School of IT has equipped me to be,” she shared.
SOIT offers Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) with specialisation in Business Systems Design, Software Engineering, and Computer Networks; and Master and Doctorate programmes in Information Technology by research.
SEGi University’s strong partnership with the University of Central Lancashire also gives its IT degree students the option to pursue a double degree via Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons).
