Going beyond academic excellence

The place to create future leaders

-

ESTABLISHED in 2011 as the international division of Sri KDU Schools, Sri KDU International School (SKIS) offers students the National Curriculum of England in Years 1 to 9, the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Years 10 to 11, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12 and 13.

For IGCSE, students can choose from a wide range of subjects from music, design technology, modern foreign languages, geography, history to sports; providing students with a broad and balanced education.

To fully support students in their chosen options, the school is purpose-built with extensive sports facilities, well-equipped science laboratories, art rooms, design technology laboratory as well as dance, drama and music studios.

The school’s pre-university programme, the IBDP, is recognised worldwide and produces wellrounded students with a global perspective which enables them to excel in the top universities in the world.

SKIS is committed to living up to their motto -“Tomorrow’s Leaders, Here and Now”.

The school focuses on a holistic education for students. The school incorporates the Learning Powered Approach (LPA), where students are taught to be independent learners who are resilient, resourceful, reflective and with critical skills which will ensure success beyond the classroom.

Apart from academic excellence, students have ample occasions to develop leadership and social skills.

The school’s comprehensive Co-Curricular Learning Programme (CCL), which is embedded into the curriculum allows students to cultivate their existing interests as well as broaden their horizons through new ones.

SKIS also offers the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programme as well as its own school chapters of the Leo Club and PTPI.

The annual Paramount Championship, a unique studentorganised school-wide talent show, provides students with the chance to showcase their talents as well as organisation skills.

Being a member of FOBISIA (Federation of British International Schools in Asia) and AIMS (Association of International Malaysian Schools) means that SKIS students have many opportunities to interact with students from other international schools in Malaysia and around the region through sports and subject competitions.

In 2017, SKIS became the first international school in Malaysia to be awarded the Gold Award, the highest accreditation from the Education Development Trust’s International School Quality Mark (ISQM). The school was judged outstanding in all eight standards of compliance during the inspection.

A spirit of excellence permeates everything that the school does, as evidenced by the outstanding outcomes of their students at IGCSE and IBDP levels as well as in sports where student athletes compete on the national and international stage in championships including wushu, fencing and pole vault.

With 80% of its students comprising Malaysians, SKIS strives to provide a high-quality UK education without forgoing the Malaysian heritage.

The KDU Campus tagline of “Malaysian Hearts, Global Minds” is reflected through aspects such as the inclusion of Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin as subjects as well as an annual Malaysia Day assembly and the singing of the national anthem during special occasions.

The 50:50 ratio of local and international teachers also allows a collaborative working environment that promotes the exchange and transfer of skills and knowledge that ultimately benefit the students.

With expert educators and a holistic educational curriculum, combined with a state-of-the-art conducive learning environment, SKIS provides all the advantages a student needs to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
