Dream big and aim for success

-

AS hard as it is to imagine, successful businessman and billionaire Jack Ma came from humble beginnings. In his youth, Ma had to deal with numerous rejections while looking for a job, but those setbacks did not stop him from dreaming big.

Today, people the world over know his company Alibaba.

While not everyone’s story is as dramatic as Ma’s, we all have our own ambitions. Some dream of becoming successful accountants, marketers or even entrepreneurs.

Now, that dream can become a reality by signing up for First City University College’s (formerly known as KBU International College) Foundation in Business Administration programme.

Course structures and modules

Offered by the Faculty of Business, Hospitality and Communication Studies, the Foundation in Business Administration is a oneyear programme which introduces students to the world of business over three semesters. In addition, students will acquire creative, intellectual and critical awareness that will enable them to become better problem solvers.

Foundation in Business Administration Programme coordinator Aurora Lim explained that student performance is assessed through coursework, mid-terms and final exams.

“Students will also be provided study notes and asked to participate in discussions held on the e-portal. They will be taught a variety of modules such as Business Mathematics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Business Management in order to prepare them for the challenges in their bachelor degree programme later on,” she said.

Final Year BA (Hons) Marketing student Lee Tuck Cheng said that despite coming from a science stream background in secondary school, he was interested in studying business, so he registered for the Foundation in Business Administration programme.

“During my foundation days, I had the opportunity to get to know friendly lecturers who made my classes fun and interactive. Even today, I still keep in contact with them,” said Lee.
