Creating the workforce of the future
ACCORDING to the McKinsey Global Institute, up to 800 million workers worldwide will lose their jobs by 2030, replaced by robotic automation. However, the same report notes that hundreds of millions of new jobs will be born in response to new economies and technological innovations.
At Quest International University Perak (QIU), the goal is to develop graduates who become prime job market targets once they step off the convocation stage.
As one of the fastest growing universities in Perak, QIU aims to be more than a degree mill – in line with the vision of its council chairman Datuk Seri Dr Vijay Eswaran.
“Employers want to hire candidates with the education and skills to make an immediate impact in an organisation,” asserts QIU chief operating officer, Nicholas Goh.
“It is the hands-on skills and adaptability that will set our students apart. QIU’s programmes reflect industry demands and the goal is to create graduates who are immediately job-ready.”
A prime example of this is the university’s new fluid curriculum concept for two engineering programmes – Bachelor of Electronics Engineering (Communication) with Honours and the Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours.
Under this curriculum, students undergo a yearly industrial attachment at prominent multinational companies – gaining an unrivalled level of industry exposure.
The same principle extends to QIU’s culinary arts programme, where students utilise a state-of-the-art kitchen, in-house bakery and fine dining restaurant to polish their professional skills. QIU’s industry-relevant programme exposes students to the realworld culinary experience – an invaluable asset in the job market.
For those fascinated by communication, QIU also offers a state-of-the-art in-house recording studio featuring some of the latest gear.
In the same vein, the modern curriculum used by QIU’s Faculty of Medicine is augmented by state-of-the-art laboratories and infrastructure.
QIU’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and its Faculty of Medicine has been validated as a medicine school of high quality.
The university is also an approved official centre for the United States Medical Licensing Examination training. In addition, QIU’s MBBS programme is accredited by the Malaysian Medical Council and Malaysian Qualifications Agency, recognised by the Health Ministry and accredited by several medical councils across South Asia.
The university’s Faculty of Business and Management is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business and QIU is also a member of the International Association of Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.
The strongest pillar of any university is its educators – QIU lecturers are passionate, industry-savvy, creative and highly acclaimed.
QIU’s interim campus is strategically located in Ipoh, the capital city of Perak. It combines a conducive learning environment with affordable living costs.
