Join the fight against diabetes

ACCORDING to the World Health Organization, diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in the world. According to the International Diabetes Foundation, people with diabetes are between two and six times more likely to develop cardiovascular disease, including heart attacks and stroke, compared with people without diabetes.

The onset of diabetes is usually preceded by poor dietary adherence and an unhealthy lifestyle. Excessive consumption of carbohydrate-rich foods can lead to weight gain and an increased risk of developing elevated blood glucose levels. Hence, reducing the intake of carbohydrate-rich foods and portion control are essential to achieving positive glycemic response among diabetic patients.

Clinical trials are also showing that adopting a high fibre and lowglycaemic index (GI) diet, with the inclusion of oat beta-glucans, can have beneficial effects on blood glucose control, both in the short and long term among diabetic patients.

Research shows that a slight modification in our daily diet, and the inclusion of fibre-rich foods such as oat bran, can help regulate blood glucose levels and lower the risk of developing diabetes.

Oat beta-glucan, a soluble form of dietary fibre, which can be found in oat bran, is the key to controlling blood glucose levels because of its high viscosity. Increased viscosity caused by the oat beta-glucan acts as a preventative barrier, delaying the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates. This prevents sudden spikes in blood sugar levels and abnormal insulin secretion after a meal.

The Health Ministry and European Commission’s European Food Safety Authority acknowledges the role of oat betaglucan in controlling post-meal high blood sugar levels.

A daily serving of Biogrow Oat BG22 oat bran powder provides 3g of bioactive oat beta-glucan to lower the rise of blood glucose and cholesterol levels significantly.

Studies have shown that Biogrow Oat BG22 is a diabetes-friendly food, as it is low in glycaemic index (GI < 55), which can help stabilise your blood glucose levels and achieve energy balance throughout the day. Therefore, it is suitable for pre-diabetic and diabetic patients.

Biogrow Oat BG22 is also low in calories, high in fibre, lactose-free and has no added sugar, artificial ingredients and preservatives.
