LEMON Sky Animation Sdn Bhd has added another feather to its cap, with its recent acknowledgement as the Exporter of the Year for the Mid-tier Companies category, in addition to bagging the Gold Award for the Services (Mid-tier) category.

Its chief executive officer Ken Foong attributed the achievement to the dedicated team behind the company, who fuels Lemon Sky with creativity and innovation to bring it to where it stands today.

“Winning this award is a huge accolade for the company, which is indeed testament that Lemon Sky is on the right track in making an impact in the industry.

“We are of course very proud as we are among the handful of Malaysian animation and games companies to be recognised for our services,” he said.

“As Malaysia’s leading computer-generated images and animation studio, Lemon Sky has been at the forefront of its industry since its inception in 2010.

Today, the company continues to work with some of the industry’s global leaders such as Disney, Netflix, Nickelodean as well as Blizzard Entertainment.

Services offered by the company include concept art and design, computer-generated (CG) character modeling (game and cinematic), CG environment and props modeling (game and cinematic), CG cinematic animation, CG animation series and Intellectual Property (IP) development.

While Lemon Sky offers full scope of services ranging from concept development, IP pilot, 3D modeling, in-game cinematic, video special effects to final rendering, the company also produces output demonstrated in many various formats, not just games and animation but featured films, virtual reality, augmentative reality, among other interactive media.

To date, the company has exported its services to more than 106 clients across over 15 countries.

Its ability to retain its export capability lies primarily into its strength of creativity and innovation in addressing the ever-demanding requirements of its clients and consumers’ preference.

Working closely with international game developers and top studios, the company has built profound working relationship with many top artists, drawing resources and collaborated with producers and publishers around the world.

Lemon Sky chief financial officer Alvin Chin said the company has seen great growth since 2010 and in 2018, it saw a 50% revenue growth compared to 2017.

“We hope to achieve the same growth rate this year.

“Moving forward, in addition to being a servicing company, we plan to develop more of our own IP in terms of games and animations,” he added.

“Currently we have Astrolology, our very first IP, our original comedy web series featuring characters of the Greek zodiac and their wacky personalities.

“This children series, which is available on Youtube, is a simple, dialogue-free, and colorful which makes it popular not only among children but also adults,” said Foong.

In its continuous efforts to innovate and close the gap on industry needs, it has been exploring new international markets including potential collaboration in VR and AR projects in United Emirates of Arab, IP distribution in Russia and game development in Sweden.
