Welcoming prospective students
THE International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and healthcare university with over 27 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education, invites prospective students and their parents to its Foundation in Science (FiS) Info Day on Sunday, Dec 15 at its campus in Bukit Jalil from 10am to 4pm.
Visitors will be able to attend a talk – “Foundation in Science: The Principle Pathway to Your Intended Undergraduate Studies” – by Foundation in Science principal lecturer and head Dr James Edward Walsh at 11am followed by a forum with current FiS students at 12.15pm.
Showcasing its facilities, the FiS Info Day provides visitors the opportunity to look around the university.
It is the perfect opportunity for prospective students to obtain first-hand information and meet students and staff to chat about how the university’s FiS can provide entry to IMU’s undergraduate programmes, which would lead to exciting and promising career opportunities.
Prospective parents and students can also chat with faculty members about life in IMU and seek advice and information on a variety of issues such as applying to the university, financing (including fees and financial assistance) and accommodation.
This is also an opportunity to find out more about scholarships and bursary for students with excellent academic results in SPM.
The exact scholarship or bursary offered will vary depending on students’ results.
Application submission is open for upcoming intakes at FiS Info Day. Don’t miss this opportunity – apply for the FiS programme during Info Day and get a waiver of RM450 (terms and conditions apply).
The IMU Foundation in Science is the preferred foundation for entry into any of the IMU’s undergraduate degree programmes (local degrees and credit transfer options).
It provides the academic preparation required for admission into a science-related degree.
Students will be equipped with strong fundamental knowledge and skills to pursue study in the areas of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and health sciences.
The programme aims to prepare students academically and holistically for undergraduate studies in IMU.
With that aim in mind, the teaching methodology and assessment methods employed are aligned to the methodologies used in the undergraduate programmes.
Students benefit as it gives them early exposure and a head start to the undergraduate learning environment.
The Foundation in Science in IMU is an important foundation year, which aims to prepare students to be independent learners.
Being offered and conducted in the same facilities and environment as other programmes IMU has to offer, FiS students adapt to the facilities and environment at a much earlier stage.
What’s more interesting and exciting are the sneak previews into the IMU degree programmes – experiencing what each of these degree programmes have to offer through the “Look, See, Feel” engagement activities arranged for the FiS students.
The current IMU FiS team consists of carefully selected, well-qualified and experienced staff with specific skill sets that make them ideal pre-university level academicians.
The team has a clear understanding of subsequent undergraduate degree programme requirements and are assisted in this regard by degree-level academics who also advise the students on their available undergraduate pathways while in foundation.
The FiS in IMU has three intakes a year – March, June and September. These convenient start dates will enable smooth transition into the preferred degree courses students are interested in, upon successful completion.
