Take the next step in your career progression

PURSUING a postgraduate degree is a rewarding journey that not only enhances your knowledge and skills but also contributes to building professional experience and personal growth to broaden your career prospects.

Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), Curtin University’s largest international campus and global campus in Asia, offers different levels of postgraduate study and industry-aligned programmes by coursework or research under its Faculty of Engineering and Science, Faculty of Business, and Faculty of Humanities in collaboration with the Curtin Malaysia Graduate School.

Established in 2015, the Curtin Malaysia Graduate School advances and promotes postgraduate education through both taught and research programmes. In the research programmes, it aims to provide high-quality support and research training to both students and supervisors as well as assist in the growth of a vibrant research culture.

Coursework postgraduate programmes at Curtin Malaysia are identical to those at Curtin’s main campus in Perth, and, as a result, degrees earned at the Malaysian campus are conferred directly by Curtin Perth.

Master’s programmes offered include the Master of Policy Sciences, Master of Science in Project Management, Master of Commerce in Marketing, Master of International Business, Master of Engineering Management and Master of Petroleum Engineering.

In addition, Curtin Malaysia offers Higher Degree by Research (HDR) programmes leading to Master of Philosophy (Mphil) qualifications in electrical and computer, mechanical, civil, chemical and petroleum engineering; geology; accounting, economics and finance, management and media, culture and arts, as well as Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) in engineering and science, environmental science and business.

Those interested in pursuing master’s degrees may be accepted into master’s degree programmes at the Faculty of Business, Faculty of Engineering and Science or Faculty of Humanities, provided they hold appropriate qualifications as decided by the respective faculty deans. Some master’s degrees also have a work experience component.

A candidate may enrol in a master’s programme either full time or part time, usually for a minimum of one year and a maximum of two years of equivalent fulltime study. Doctoral candidates can also enrol full time or part time for a minimum of two years and a maximum of four years of equivalent full-time study.

A HDR differs from other postgraduate degrees in that at least two-thirds of the study programme must involve research. Although candidates may require to complete some coursework units, the main part of the work will be a thesis written under the guidance of a supervisor.

As Curtin Malaysia is committed to supporting and nurturing postgraduate researchers within a dynamic environment conducive to research, it offers a number of PHD and Mphil research scholarships for eligible candidates to join the vibrant research communities at the university and conduct advanced research study based on their chosen research areas.
