Imaginative video leads to top honour
IT’S a wrap for the BSN SSP Video Contest: Are You the Next Top Video Director? with the results announced recently.
Organised by Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), contestants were required to produce a creative three minute-long video about BSN SSP (Sijil Simpanan Premium or Premium Savings Certificate).
The first prize went to a group of varsity students whose short video Tabung Bertuah earned them a BSN SSP voucher worth RM6,000 and a Macbook Pro.
One of the team members was 21-year-old Muhammad Firdaus Zahari from Management & Science University (MSU). A student of the Bachelor in Creative Video and Photography, Faculty of Information Sciences and Engineering (FISE) programme, he said the competition was rather tough due to several factors.
“The pre-production and brainstorming sessions to build up ideas for content and storylines caused quite a few arguments among us.
“Post-production was another challenge when creating the video as we had to watch hours of clips and find a way to put all the material together,” he recalled.
Despite the limited equipment at their disposal, the team was determined to do their best.
Through the spirit of teamwork and support from their family members and lecturers, the team managed to complete and submit the video according to the given timeline.
“It was a priceless experience to take part in the competition because I challenged myself to work under pressure and learnt how to be more creative and innovative in producing videos and films.
“Making videos is my passion and it gives me real satisfaction, especially when people understand the meaning of each video produced,” said Muhammad Firdaus.
At MSU, students are strongly encouraged to take part in competitions to sharpen their skills and competencies, while at the same time shaping them to become industry-ready graduates.
