Financial aid assures access to education

-

WHILE technological changes present opportunities to many, others are still left behind simply because they lack access and understanding of how these things work.

Financial aid secures that access as it enables deserving individuals to obtain education. Whether the aid comes internally from the UTAR Foundation Education Fund or externally through collaboration with various institutions, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)’s financial aid has benefited many students over the years.

To date, over RM220mil in internal scholarships has been imbursed to over 19,000 students and more than RM16mil has been imbursed to over 570 students. Internal loans imbursed to more than 800 students amount to over RM7mil, while external loans imbursed to over 200 students amount to over RM5mil.

“We are doing what we can to achieve equality in education. Similar to what is outlined by the United Nations, under Sustainable Development Goal 4, we acknowledge that the call for inclusive and equitable quality education for all is very important,” said UTAR president Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat.

Under the UTAR Foundation Education Fund, scholarships available for Foundation programmes include the UTAR Top Achiever Scholarship, UTAR-Sport Scholarship, UTAR-Talent Scholarship and Tan Sri (Dr) Lim Goh Tong-UTAR Scholarship Fund.

Scholarships offered for undergraduate programmes include the UTAR Top Achiever Scholarship (MBBS), UTAR Top Achiever

Scholarship (Health Sciences), UTAR-UEC Scholarship, UTAR ACCA Scholarship and Datuk Sim Mou Yu-UTAR Scholarship Fund.

Other forms of internal financial aid from UTAR include the UTAR Student Loan and UTAR Student Bridging Loan. Over 100 external financial aids are also available. For more information, visit the Division of Examinations, Awards and Scholarships at https://deas.utar.edu.my/
