New S 1000 RR arrives

-

BMW Motorrad Malaysia has introduced its new high-performance S 1000 RR superbike.

The S 1000 RR - also known as the “King of the Isle of Man TT” comes priced on-the-road without insurance at RM116,500 which includes a three-year warranty and road-side assist programme.

With the Financing Plan from BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, ownership of the bike starts from RM1,420.00 per month - based on 80% loan over a four-year tenure.

Budding owners have a choice of two colour options of Racing Red or Hockenheim Silver Metallic.

Lying in the belly of the “king” is its engine which has been lightened over its predecessor and is surrounded by a new Flex Frame.

This helps to create a leaner-looking aluminium fuel tank and seat area trim sections that help to create more support and knee grip.

A rear seat cover is also offered as standard with the rider’s seat while LEDs are used in the front headlights and rear dynamic tail lights with integrated turn signals.

The 999cc engine now produces 207hp at 13,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm allowing it to reach a top speed of 200kph while employing technologies such as BMW ShiftCam to vary the valve’s strokes and timings on the intake side.

Four riding modes are provided including Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic Pro which allows the rider to adjust certain settings such as dynamic traction control or the German bike maker’s anti-lock braking system (ABS) Pro system.

The bike also comes with Hill Start Control, which offers support when starting on steep inclines while providing lightning-quick clutchless shifts with the HP Shift Assistant Pro.

Staring back at the rider is a 6.5-inch TFT screen which can be operated by a Multi Controller on the left handlebar that can be used to tailor the display screen to the rider’s preferences.

For greater convenience, the bike has been equipped with Connectivity (Bluetooth) which allows the rider’s smartphone to pair with the system for music playback, phone calls or even call up the bike’s status and statistics via the BMW Connected App (exclusive to select countries only).

“The new S 1000 RR raises the bar yet again with its new, formidable engine and sleek aerodynamic design,” said BMW Group Malaysia managing director Harald Hoelzl.
