AFTER being associated with the high-end prostituti­on syndicate currently being investigat­ed, actress Chacha Maembong is setting the record straight.

“If I were paid RM40,000 a night, why do I still need to work as an actress?” the 24-year-old told Harian Metro on Oct 21 while filming on the set of the serial, Bidadari Salju.

On Oct 18, Utusan Malaysia reported that the he Malaysian Anti-Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigat­ing a prostituti­on syndicate where local celebritie­s were said to earn between RM20,000 and RM40,000 a night.

“I’ve been wo orking so hard all these yearsy to earn a living,” sayss Chacha, who ha as been acting since she was 16.

“I know my name has been associated with the RM40,000 scandal. Many have messaged me on Instagram about it. “Whatever accusation­s that people want to throw at me, they can go ahead. One day, the truth will come out.”

The actress also hit out at those accusing her of being involved with the much talked-about Macau Scam. The money laundering scheme, which also has connection­s to the prostituti­on ring, is being investigat­ed by the MACC, with local celebritie­s like comedian Shuib Sepahtu recently being called in for questionin­g.

“I will be taking legal action against those who go overboard with their comments. It damages my career, my business and my family’s name. “I’ m brave enough to do that because I know I didn’t do anything wrong.”
