THE Shah Alam Lake Garden welcomes its two latest tourist attractions, the Zip Line Shah Alam and the Musical Fountain Cultural Park, following the successful launch of the Selangor-japan Friendship Garden in early March.
Acting Shah Alam Mayor Mohd Rashidi Ruslan said that the two attractions, which opened on April 1, are aimed at developing and improving local tourism in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the 240m zip line activity for free until April 4 in conjunction with the attraction’s opening.
The Zip Line Shah Alam will operate until April 12, starting from 10am to 6.30pm (Monday to Friday), 8.30am to 6.30pm (Saturday and Sunday), and from April 14 to May 10, from 2pm to 6.30pm (Monday to Sunday).
Shah Alam residents will receive a RM5 discount on tickets, which are priced between RM20 and RM40, throughout the period, while students have to pay only RM20 for two sessions.
Mohd Rashidi said the musical fountain show, located at the West Lake of the garden, will take place every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and on public holidays from 8.15pm till 10pm.
He said the fountain show, stretching 30m, features a colourful LED lighting system, audio and water movement that changes according to the music.
Bilateral tourism package
Elsewhere, Terengganu and Melaka state governments are collaborating to a launch bilateral tourism package as a proactive measure and marketing strategy to revitalise the tourism industry that has been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Terengganu Tourism, Culture and Digital Technology Committee chairman Ariffin Deraman said through the collaboration, tourism industry players in both states have the opportunity to introduce their products, hold discussions and in turn, improve the states’ socioeconomic status due to the spillover of tourism activities.
“We are really impressed with the greatness of Melaka in the tourism industry. We can learn a lot from them on how to boost the industry in Terengganu.
“I’m confident that the ‘Ikan di Laut, Asam di Darat Melaka & Terengganu’ tourism package is the right start to assist industry players such as the hotel, homestay and tour bus operators and travel agents in both states to become active again,” he said at an event in Kuala Terengganu recently.
Besides Melaka, Terengganu has also collaborated with Kedah and Perlis soon after the government announced the Targeted Travel Bubble which allows tourist travels between states under the recovery movement control order.
Meanwhile, Melaka Tourism, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis said both states have unique and different tourist attractions that have the potential to be further enhanced through the collaboration.
“Melaka is well-known for heritage and historical tourism while Terengganu is popular with its beautiful nature such as resort islands and Tasik Kenyir. The bilateral discussion between the industry players in both states is very positive and I’m confident that it will provide a huge impact on domestic tourism.
“For the time being, permission (for tourist travels) is given to those using tour buses under agencies registered with the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry. Maybe after this, we can propose round trip flights between Terengganu and Melaka if there is an encouraging demand,” he said.
