No quarantine required
ABU Dhabi has opened its borders to all fully vaccinated tourists and residents travelling from all countries around the world, as well as unvaccinated visitors from approved countries, with no quarantine measures.
The latest development, which kicked off on Sept 5, is expected to provide some respite for the capital’s tourism sector.
Under the new guidelines, vaccinated travellers arriving from countries on Abu Dhabi’s “green list” will be required to show a negative PCR test taken a maximum of 48 hours before departure and take a PCR test at the airport on arrival.
“They will not need to quarantine but will be required to take one more PCR test on day six (counting the day of arrival as the first day). Their hotel will arrange testing on the premises for their convenience,” said Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi in a statement.
Unvaccinated travellers arriving from green list countries will also be exempt from quarantine measures.
Abu Dhabi only recognises vaccines that are approved by the World Health Organisation.
Meanwhile, entry for unvaccinated travellers from countries outside the green list will be required to quarantine for 10 days at home or in a hotel.
Tourists to the city would be able to explore places of attraction while observing safety measures.
Abu Dhabi implemented a Green Pass protocol on Aug 20, enabling only those who are fully vaccinated, officially exempted or under 16 years of age to access key public places and attractions. – Chester Chin
