Home sweet home

-

What is your idea of a dream home? There are children who would love to live in a gingerbread home that’s filled with all sorts of chocolates and ice cream. Some of our young readers say they wish they could live in a house like that of the Na’vi people in the sci-fi adventure movie, Avatar.

Raise your hands if you dream of eating krabby patties with popular character Spongebob Squarepants inside his pineapple house in Bikini Bottom!

Starchild readers sure had a lot to say on the topic, Dream Home. Many of our young readers want to stay in large mansions but there are a few who prefer to live in caravans so they can travel while staying safe during the movement control order due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We will feature more letters next week.

Three-year-old Asher Wang Qi Chuen dream is to live in a camper van. “It will have everything I like including a chimney, a water tank for drinks with a slide and swing. Because of the pandemic, my camper van house will allow me to stay safe at home and still be able to travel around from place to place.”

Chan Ern Tong, seven, wants a camper van too. “I want to have a camper van as my dream house. I want to drive to the mountains and enjoy the blue skies. I want to travel in my camper van across the world.”

If Victor Jian-ning Yeo, four, was an architect, he’d design a three-storey house on wheels. “The first floor will have a balcony while a swimming pool will be built on the second floor. An attic occupies the top floor. With wheels on my house, my family and I can go on holiday whenever we wish.”

“I hope I can stay in a house by the sea. I’d love to spend my free time building sand castles. My house will have a mini cinema room, dance studio and playground. Once the movement control order is relaxed, I’ll invite my friends over to play,” says Florence Chan Zi Hsuan, seven.

Seven-year-old Wong Cheng Yang wants to live in a treehouse beside a river. “My secret hut is built on an apple tree. During my free time, I can fish from my hut for lunch and eat all the juicy apples when I am thirsty. Now that I have a dream house, my sister can come and play with me anytime.”

Jayden Tan Li Sheng, eight, wants a comfortable house with six bedrooms for his grandmother, parents, and siblings. “It has a big garden with an enormous pool. I can keep my beautiful koi fish in the pool. I can grow fruits and vegetables in the garden. It also has a big field so I can invite my friends to play football.”

Vishvathev S. Theyantran, nine, wants a swimming pool, nursery, library in his mansion. “My mansion will have a gaming room, gym and workspace area.”

Eight-year-old Sophie Yap Jyn Qing envisions living with her pet rabbit and horse in her dream house. “It has a place to plant trees, vegetables, and a compost site too. Nearby there is an ice cream shop. I love my dream house because I can ride on my horse and grow vegetables!

Low Ying Tong, seven, wants to live on a farm surrounded by crops. “There will be acres of wheat plants, carrots and potatoes. My room will be decorated with pink wallpaper. I can watch TV in my room too.”

Seven-year-old Brandon Tang Chee Harng, says: “My dream house is tall, comfy and beautiful.

There is one master bedroom, six bedrooms in my spacious home. We have a big kitchen for Mummy. There’s also a swimming pool and a playground for my family.”

Low Ying Xi, nine, writes: “I want a mansion with four floors and a lift. My basement will have a sports room and a spacious porch to accommodate my sports cars.”

Chuah Seng Koon, five, says: “My special house is made of windows. There’s a magic room where I can cook, play games and sleep. There is a huge garden where I can play with my friends. There’s also a security guard to protect me from the bad guys.”

“My dream mansion has two gaming rooms. I hope it will turn into a reality when I’m older,” writes Chuah Seng Yew ,11.

Kuga Kaori, seven, says: “My magic dream house looks small from the outside but it’s magically large inside.” – Compiled by Sheela Chandran
