Trouble Started: A Young Writers’ Anthology

edited by Brigitte rozario Publisher: Br

In this anthology of short stories, 20 young writers share their stories of internal conflict and clashes within the family, with friends and other people in their world. These writers (aged between 11 and 15), were part of the seven-month Junior Writers Programme conducted by writer/trainer Brigitte Rozario. The programme aims to encourage youths to write and learn the art of storytelling. You’ll find a murder mystery alongside a tale about racism in school, giving readers a glimpse of how diverse young Malaysian writers can be. Lessons include the nuts and bolts of writing, as well as introduction, conclusion, dialogue, characters, descriptions, thematic words and editing. At the end of last year’s programme, the participants were tasked with writing a story each on the theme of conflict. Trouble Started is the culmination of this effort. Book royalties will be channelled to Thrive Well’s (formerly SOLS Health) community centres.
