Illustrators set to take spotlight
THE Kuala Lumpur Illustration Fair (KLIF) team were at the KL Art Book Fair at The Godown last month where artists and other creative folks were invited to sign up for the upcoming fair. The open call for exhibitors is ongoing, so if you are an aspiring artist looking to showcase your work or an illustrator looking to connect with like-minded people, visit klifillustrationfair.my for more information.
For visitors, early bird tickets are also available for purchase.
The inaugural KLIF, a collaborative project by Creators Project Associates, Filamen, Studio Behind 90 and Inch Lab, and an event partnership with KL Art Book Fair, is scheduled for May 5-7.
“This annual event is the first Malaysian international commercial illustration fair for canvas storytellers of all mediums to share their stories, showcase their work and connect with the public on a singular platform. KLIF 2023 is a progressive arts hub that celebrates works from contemporary illustration, including digital and animated work. It was founded on our love for all things illustration and wanting to provide expansive opportunities for new and iconic talent,” says Billie Almashoor, chairman of KLIF 2023.
KLIF will be held at GMBB (Jalan Robertson, Bukit Bintang in KL), with the art showcase taking up the entire 3A level, with the conference and workshop sharing sessions held at the Grey Box.
There will be over 40 exhibits from local and international artists from Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.
“KLIF 2023 is a fair that celebrates talent and a wide genre of illustration art of all mediums. The event includes art exhibitions, curated booths, interactive installations, public sharing sessions and workshops, as well as a networking centre for artists to connect with buyers, media and partners. It is a great way to experience new art and connect with creatives.
“While everyone can come and enjoy the fair, we highly encourage art and design students, visual artists, art enthusiasts, studios and galleries, business owners and art buyers, to attend. We do hope visitors will take away a new and unique experience on the possibilities of the illustration industry and at the same time promote illustration art for further recognition on an international platform. And most importantly, be inspired and have fun!” she adds.
