POP star Aina Abdul’s mesmerising voice wields an undeniable power to stir emotions in listeners, a testament to her decade-long presence in Malaysia’s entertainment scene.

Renowned not only for her distinct fashion sense but also her remarkable vocal talent, she’s earned the respect of industry veterans like Hattan and Misha Omar.

Thus, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) conductor Ahmad Muriz Che Rose sees collaborating with Aina, known fully as Nurul Aina Abdul Ghani, for her debut concert at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP) in KLCC on May 10 and 11 as an invaluable opportunity.

As Aina sets her sights on gracing the DFP stage, Ahmad Muriz nurtures a long-standing dream of orchestrating a successful concert alongside the Johor Baruborn singer, aiming to elevate his orchestra group to new heights.

“It’s truly an honour for MPO to welcome her,” he said eager to showcase Aina’s talent on their shared platform, presenting symphonic interpretations of her acclaimed songs.

“Our musical arrangements this time exude such intensity; her songs already stand out ... How does MPO enhance them further, evoking goosebumps?” he said during a recent press conference in Kuala Lumpur announcing the concert.

Ahmad Muriz recalled being captivated by Aina’s performance of a Mariah Carey song on a TV programme three years ago. He also noted that giving Aina’s hit single Shadow the symphonic treatment would be a challenge.

However, he mentioned that rearranging the song became a smooth process for the MPO orchestra, attributing it to the exceptional talent of Aina, the recipient of the Best Vocal Award at the 38th Anugerah Juara Lagu.

Meanwhile, Aina expressed her excitement about the upcoming DFP concert, describing it as a dream come true and an opportunity to showcase her growth as a singer on such a high profile stage.

“I anticipate presenting a more mature version of myself,” she said, viewing the event as a source of fresh inspiration, especially with the chance to explore new symphonic renditions of her songs.

Aina revealed plans to perform around 20 songs, including hits like Sumpah, Semalam, Sepi, Puas, and Sudah.

“I’ll commence rehearsals with the MPO in two weeks, eager to deliver my best performance at the concert,” she added.
