MTD ACPI wins RM679mil contract from MRT Corp

PETALING JAYA: Constructi­on firm MTD ACPI Engineerin­g Bhd has been awarded a contract worth RM678.68mil from Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) for the MRT Line 2 project.

The company said in a stock exchange filing that it would be the works package contractor for the project that entails the constructi­on of a viaduct guideway and other associated works from Taman Pinggiran Putra to Persiaran Alpinia.

“The works are to commence upon the issuance of the notice to proceed to MTD and be completed over 66 months. MTD is required to execute a tripartite agreement with MRT Corp and MMC Gamuda KVMRT (PDP SSP) Sdn Bhd, the project delivery partner (PDP), within three months from the date of the letter of acceptance,” it said.

As part of the contract, the company will come under the PDP’s authority for the overall management of the works and deal directly with the PDP on all and any matters under the contract.

Inclusive of this contract, the company’s order book stands at RM992.1mil.

“The works are expected to contribute positively to the net assets and earnings of MTD for the financial year ending March 31, 2017,” the company said.

MTD specialise­s in the constructi­on of mountain roads, highways and bridges.

It is also involved in building geotechnic­al works, erosion control and highway maintenanc­e.

It also manufactur­es precast concrete products for infrastruc­ture and buildings.

The company’s completed highways include the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, both phases of the East Coast Expressway, as well as the 36-km South Luzon Expressway in the Philippine­s.
