Mesiniaga cautions of RM8.23mil potential liability if it loses civil suit

PETALING JAYA: Mesiniaga Bhd has cautioned that it faces a potential liability of RM8.23mil or more, in the event that it loses a civil suit that was filed against the company.

The company, in a filing to Bursa Malaysia yesterday, said the potential liability on the company and its group would be RM8.23mil as well as any additional amount that the court may award to the plaintiff based on the claims put forth.

It said this in reference to a Writ of Summons and Statement of Claim issued against the company by Amanah Raya Bhd through its solicitor Messrs Mohanadass Partnershi­p.

In a previous announceme­nt on March 3, 2017, the company had stated that the plaintiff was seeking RM8.23mil in damages among other claims.

Mesiniaga said it was of the opinion that it had a strong defense and that the civil suit was fixed for case management on March 27, 2017 at Kuala Lumpur High Court.

It said the suit was filed in relation to a dispute on the obligation­s of a contract which was executed by both parties on April 23, 2015.

The contract was in relation to the implementa­tion of the Amanahraya Integrated System which is an integratio­n of solutions comprising of systems known as the AVALOQ banking solution, IFCA financial solution and KODAK document imaging solution.
