George Kent bags second Hong Kong water meter job

-

PETALING JAYA: George Kent (M) Bhd has bagged a contract to supply and deliver 650,000 water meters to Hong Kong’s Water Supplies Department (WSD) for the second consecutive time.

The contract, valued at RM28.72mil, will see the company supplying the DN15 Brass PSM-T water meters to WSD within two years, in 24 shipments.

The bid was made under the company’s subsidiary, George Kent International Pte Ltd.

George Kent first secured the contract to supply 600,000 water meters to WSD back in 2015.

The company noted that the latest contract would be the largest single order George Kent has ever clinched from a single source over the span of its metering business history.

“This remarkable achievement is a testament of the market’s confidence, trust and belief in our technical expertise and competitiveness in meeting the utmost discerning requirements in international standards,” group chairman Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock said in a statement to Bursa Malaysia.

To-date, George Kent is the only company that has successfully secured large water meter contracts from both Hong Kong and Singapore water authorities at the same time.

Last year, the company secured a tender to supply 323,630 water meters to Singapore’s Public Utilities Board, marking its third consecutive tender win from the republic.
