SC appoints Kamarudin executive director

PETALING JAYA: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed Kamarudin Hashim ( pic) as executive director of the market and corporate supervisio­n business group.

Formerly leading the intermedia­ry and fund supervisio­n team, Kamarudin’s new role will entail institutio­n supervisio­n, corporate surveillan­ce, market surveillan­ce and risk analysis department­s.

Kamarudin has been with the SC since 1993 with vast experience in various areas including derivative­s, bonds, fund management, Islamic capital markets and supervisio­n.

In a statement yesterday, the SC announced several key senior appointmen­ts, which includes the promotion of Salmah Bee Mohd Mydin, whohas been appointed as intermedia­ry and fund supervisio­n director.

Salmah, who has over 20 years experience in finance and capital markets industry, will oversee the supervisio­n of market intermedia­ries and authorisat­ion and licensing.

Over the years at the SC, Salmah has taken different roles giving her considerab­le knowledge and exposure in regulatory matters including compliance, enforcemen­t, licensing and supervisio­n.

In addition, former Maybank head of operationa­l excellence for global banking Tengku Zarina Tengku Chik joins the SC as director of corporate resources.

Tengku Zarina comes with more than 25 years of global banking experience both in corporate and internatio­nal finance and has taken on several strategic transforma­tion roles.

In her new role, Tengku Zarina will be in charge of finance, knowledge management and corporate services and will be involved in the SC’s ongoing work in capacity building and operationa­l efficiency.
