PETALING JAYA: Etika Group of Companies has invested over RM100mil to upgrade its dairy plant in Meru, which will see an exponential increase in local milk production from Etika.

The new production facility, which involves advanced and automated technologies for more efficient milk production, will help support locally produced milk in a bid to increase milk consumption in Malaysia.

Speaking at the launch of the new production line, Etika president and CEO Erwin Selvarajah ( pic) said the group’s sales in Malaysia had surpassed RM1bil annually.

“This achievement is attributed to our more than 2,000 employees and a very well-established and comprehensive distribution network across Malaysia.

“Our investment of over RM100mil in dairy production in the last two years is testimony to our commitment in making Malaysia our Halal Dairies Hub for the group,” he said.

Etika is primarily involved in the manufacturing, selling, marketing and distribution of leading global and regional beverag- es, including Goodday Milk, one of the leaders in the dairies category in Malaysia.

In addition to the expansion of the Meru plant and recent introduction of new milk variants - Goodday Honey and Goodday Green Tea - Etika currently operates dairy plants in neighbouring countries, Indonesia and Vietnam.

Etika also has an extensive export network to over 30 countries worldwide, primarily in the export of dairy products.

These businesses, in various countries with large populations and high dairy consumption, will be a tremendous growth driver for the company in the coming years.

As part of the group’s commitment to promote health and wellness of the nation, Etika has also announced that it has started work with Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Bhd to contribute milk packets to school children in the coming weeks.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin was present at the launch to inaugurate the new production line at Etika’s dairy plant in Meru yesterday.
