Swiftlet Eco Park eyes listing on Nasdaq by 2019
KUALA LUMPUR: The Swiftlet Eco Park Group of companies is aiming to get listed on the US’ Nasdaq by the year 2019, said managing director Datuk Loke Yeu Loong.
“This is our plan to be publicly listed on the Nasdaq eventually,” Loke said at a speech during Swiftlet Eco Park’s 13th anniversary gala dinner last night.
The company is the world’s biggest swiftlet eco park developer with over 600 swiftlet houses around Malaysia.
Loke also said the company aimed to obtain the US’ FDA approval for its products eventually and aims to expand its research more into potentially pharmaceutical uses for birds nest.
“In 10-15 years we hope to develop pharmaceutical drugs to help prevent or even cure diseases like diabetes or dementia,” he said
In the immediate future, the company will embark on its next project to open another eco park in Sarawak, Loke said.
“Sarawak will be the biggest eco park state in Malaysia,” he said.
As part of its expansion plan, the company would also soon open more offices around the region in the next two years.
“It would be in Jakarta, and next year we’re planning to have an office in Bangkok, Manila and Vietnam and Cambodia within the next two years,” he said.
Loke said the company had recently seen its products being consumed by more people other than its traditional market segment: China.
The company signed five memoranda of understanding yesterday to aide its efforts to expand its product and for future research & development initiatives.
