1978

Sime Darby Bhd was incorporat­ed in Malaysia and set up its head o ce in Jalan Conlay, Kuala Lumpur.

1981

The Dawn Raid: PNB, through Rowe & Pitman and Khalid Ibrahim, gained control of the GCL through the implementa­tion of a dawn raid on its shares, bringing it under Malaysian control.

1982

Harrisons Plantation­s Bhd, a joint venture between PNB and Harrisons & Cros eld is formed to acquire plantation interests of Harrisons Malaysian Estates Ltd.

1985

Acquisitio­n of a large stake in United Estates Projects Bhd, to build the Subang Jaya township.

1992

Sime Darby acquired Hastings Deering’s Caterpilla­r dealership for Queensland, Northern Territory, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands.

2006

Plans to merge Sime Darby, Guthrie and Golden Hope announced.

2007

The newly formed company re-entered the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange under the name of Sime Darby with a market capitalisa­tion of RM59.5bil

2012

A Malaysian consortium comprising Sime Darby Bhd, SP Setia Berhad and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) acquired London’s iconic Battersea Power Station via their JV company, Battersea Project Holding Company Ltd.

2015

Sime Darby Plantation completed the acquisitio­n of New Britain Palm Oil Ltd, adding a further 135,000 ha in Papua New Guinea.

2017

Sime Darby Bhd announces demerger exercise that will see group split into three listed entities
