New XC60 seen boosting sales for Volvo Car Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: The new Volvo XC60 sport utility vehicle (SUV) is expected to boost sales for Volvo Car Malaysia this year.

The XC60 will come in three locally assembled 2-litre variants, namely the turbocharg­ed T5 (priced at RM298,888) and two T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrids (Inscriptio­n at RM333,888andInsc­riptionPlu­satRM343,888).

The XC60 with the Inscriptio­n Plus trim level has Premium Sound by Bowers and Wilkins, which features a 15-speaker and 1,100W sound system

Class-D amplifier.

The new XC60 has Volvo’s premium safety technologi­es such as City Safety (includes autonomous emergency braking), BLIS (blind spot informatio­n system), and Rear Collision Warning and Mitigation.

Volvo Car Malaysia managing director Lennart Stegland said Volvo car sales in Malaysia hit 1,021 units last year (a 9.3% increase from 934 units in 2016). with a 10-channel

“We are very optimistic for the future here, and have enjoyed huge success with the XC90 SUV. We expect sales for the XC60 to be on par with the XC90,” he said at the launch of the XC60 at a Petaling Jaya hotel.

Deliveries for the XC60 in CKD (completely knocked down) form are due to start in April.

Stegland also noted that almost 100 imported units of the new XC60 T8 Twin Engine Inscriptio­n Plus priced at RM373,888 had been sold out.
