-

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Dagangan Bhd’s (PDB) new Mesra redemption portal, launched yesterday, has expanded its network of merchants to over 81 brands to give its card members the means to instantly redeem rewards with ease.

The enriched redemption portal, meant to address the pain points of Mesra card members by giving them the flexibility of instant digital redemption. All rewards redeemed will be in the form of e-vouchers, which can then be presented at the participating brands’ merchant stores.

It is also aimed at encouraging card members to be more active in using their Mesra points and serves as a call to action for non-active members, said PDB managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohd Tahir.

Of the seven million existing Mesra cards issued to date, half or 3.5 million are active card members.

He added, “We are excited to introduce the new Mesra redemption portal, which has been designed to provide our members the convenience and flexibility to manage their points and redeem them digitally, anywhere and anytime.

“Ultimately, we want to make it a seamless and rewarding journey for our customers, one that is easy and instant. Towards this end, we will continue to enhance our loyalty programme and expand our reward offerings, so that our customers can enjoy a Redeem Like Never Before experience.”

Next up is an app launch for Mesra, but the end goal for PDB is a complete integration of all its digital touchpoints into one seamless experience for its card members. No timeline has been set for the integration, but Syed Zainal hinted that the new portal could be the possible interface.

It offers new redemption options beyond purchasing fuel and Kedai Mesra items, including lifestyle rewards such as shopping, getaways, food and beverage, beauty and wellness products, as well as services.

Among the brands it has onboard include Tealive, Baskin Robbins, TGV cinema, Legoland, Airasia BIG, Sunway Lagoon, Inside Scoop, Llao Llao, La Juiceria and San Francisco Coffee. In addition, the portal also enables a cash top-up option for members who have insufficient Mesra points.

The new Mesra portal was launched at the Mesra Rewards Festival at Sunway Pyramid, which will run until Sept 29. During the event, those interested can sign up for free to become members and instantly receive 200 Mesra points, as well as a token to participate in the Giant Capsule to win over 1,000 prizes. There will also be a special Mesra Hour featuring lucky draws, where winners get to redeem items with 100 Mesra points, including offers such as flight tickets and gadgets.
