Petronas launches flagship solar rooftop solution

PETALING JAYA: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has launched its first solar rooftop solution in Malaysia, known as M+ by PETRONAS, a customisab­le and affordable solar solution designed for both commercial and industrial use.

In a statement, Petronas said its foray into the renewable energy industry built upon its recent acquisitio­n of Amplus Energy Solutions Pte Ltd, a leading solar energy solutions provider and developer in India.

Petronas executive vice-president and chief executive officer of the gas and new energy business, Adif Zulkifli, said: “M+ by PETRONAS marks our progress in supplying clean energy options and represents our strategic vision to venture into the new energy space in addition to oil and gas”.

“The launch of the solar solution is a testimony to our significan­t growth as a company that provides sustainabl­e energy solutions. Ultimately, we want to become a leading global provider of clean, reliable as well as cost-effective energy solutions and contribute to the well-being of society and the environmen­t,” he added.

Present at the launch were Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad; Energy, Science, Technology, Environmen­t and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin; and Petronas president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.

At the event, Petronas exchanged memoranda of understand­ing with Universiti Teknologi Petronas and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd for the installati­on of solar rooftop solutions.
