Jcorp appoints Syed Mohamed as president and CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Corp (Jcorp) has appointed Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim as president and chief executive effective Thursday.

In a statement, Jcorp said the appointmen­t was to fill the vacancy following the retirement of Datuk Kamaruzzam­an Abu Kassim on Dec 31, 2019. Syed Mohamed has over 34 years of experience and expertise in banking, corporate, real estate developmen­t, technology and business strategy.

He holds a degree in economics (analytical economics) from Universiti Malaya.

Johor Mentri Besar and Jcorp chairman Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal said he is confident that Syed Mohamed will continue to ensure Jcorp’s relevance and sustainabi­lity in undertakin­g its role as a state developmen­t agent for over five decades, driven by its mission – “Membina dan Membela” (Building and Protecting).

Prior to his appointmen­t, Syed Mohamed was the chairman of Felda Investment Corp.

He was also the president and executive director of Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd; chairman of Encorp Bhd; president and chief executive officer of Iskandar Investment Bhd; chief executive officer of TH Properties Sdn Bhd and group director of Drb-hicom.
