Mitec appoints Mala Dorasamy as chief executive
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) announced the appointment of Mala Dorasamy as its new CEO.
Before her appointment, Mala worked as director of marketing and sales and acting chief executive officer of Mitec.
Mitec said in a statement that Mala has a proven track record with over 31 years of experience in the business events industry, specialising in opening new centres, project managing major events at United Nations, Asia-pacific Economic Cooperation, and the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa level.
Commenting on the appointment, Mitec chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat said the organisation is pleased to have Mala as chief executive officer at a time when the industry faces tremendous challenges as it moves to the endemic phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Mala is a remarkable choice, bringing a wealth of experience from the international business and lifestyle events industry,” Abdul Rahman said.
“This appointment marks an exciting chapter for Mitec and the board looks forward to working with Mala as she steers Mitec into greater pinnacles,” he added.
Mala, who is from South Africa, was the previous director of marketing, sales and events at the Durban International Convention Centre.
