PETALING JAYA: HSS Engineers Bhd’s (HEB) associate SMHB Sdn Bhd has accepted a letter of appointmen­t (LOA) from Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) to be the engineerin­g consultant providing engineerin­g services for the proposed study and constructi­on of a new water treatment plant and upgrading of water systems in Batu Pahat, Johor.

In a statement yesterday, the engineerin­g and project management consultant said SMHB would commence the 72-month contract in September 2022 for a total contract sum of Rm11.6mil, leading to the contract contributi­ng positively to group revenue from the financial year ending Dec 31, 2022 onwards.

“Pursuant to the exclusive teaming arrangemen­t between SMHB and HEB’S wholly-owned subsidiary SMHB Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd, both companies would collaborat­e exclusivel­y to execute and complete the scope of works,” the company said.

HEB executive vice-chairman Tan Sri Kuna Sittampala­m said PAAB’S prestigiou­s appointmen­t allows the company to extend its engineerin­g expertise to conscienti­ously establish a new water treatment plant and develop an upgrade plan that is in line with the increasing needs of a rapidly-developing area.

The LOA with PAAB brings HEB group’s current order book to Rm1.5bil, to be recognised in the next five to eight years.

HEB group’s new wins year-to-date include project management consultanc­y services for MRT3, consultanc­y services for Malaysia’s 5G infrastruc­ture and network by Digital Nasional Bhd, engineerin­g consultanc­y for the upgrading of Sungai Marang bridge in Marang, Terengganu, as well as the extended appointmen­t for the upgrading of water treatment plant at Kubang Pasu by Kedah state government.
