TE-CHNOLOGY trends
TECHNOLOGY is influencing almost every aspect of the way we live, work and play and this trend will continue into the next few decades as with progress and advancements.
Technology gives businesses, government and social sector institutions more possibilities to lift their productivity, invent and reinvent offerings and contribute to humanity’s wellbeing.
Mckinsey & Co in its report “Technology Trends Outlook 2022’’ has identified 14 most significant technology trends which will also attract huge amounts of investments.
This includes advanced connectivity, artificial intelligence or AI, cloud and edge computing, immersive-reality technologies, Web 3, bioengineering, clean energy, mobility, space technologies and sustainable consumption.
It estimates that the annual investments in just energy supply and production could double by 2035, reaching about US$1.5 trillion (RM6.84 trillion).
This could be increasingly skewed toward non-fossil and decarbonisation technologies.
It also believes mobility has arrived at a second great inflection point with a shift towards autonomous, connected, electric and smart or ACES technologies.
The next few decades promise to be a time when technologies progress ever-more quickly from science to engineering to impact-at scale, and around the world, the report says.
It also expects to see the multiplying effect of “combinatorial innovation,” as different technologies come together in creative ways.
This is already happening now as organisations combine different technologies to create the metaverse and the many layers that make it up, it says.
