Have a relook at the Div Two groupings, officials urge MJHL

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia Junior Hockey League (MJHL) technical committee have been urged to review the groupings in Division Two.

Some officials want to know why all four Kedah teams – Kedah HA Juniors, KHA-MSN Kedah, Nur Insafi, Polimas Kedah – have been placed in Group A. The other teams in the group are MSS Penang-usm Juniors, Anderson Juniors, MSS Kelantan and Sapura.

It is learnt that the committee decided to place the northern teams in one group to minimise their travelling and expenses.

Teams from the central and southern regions have been placed in Group B.

But if this is the case, then why are SMK Padang Midin from Terengganu in Group B as they have to travel to Johor and Malacca for their matches.

An official from one of the Group B teams said the grouping was unfair.

He said it was understandable if they had made a draw to pick the teams for the two groups.

“That would have been the luck of the draw had the four teams ended up in the same group. It seems the grouping was ‘fixed’ and it is a shame as the teams from Kedah will not get the chance to play against other opponents except those from the north,” said the official.

It is learnt that a team from Negri Sembilan will be joining the league and will be sending in their application today.

If they do, then a redraw is in order.
